The Role:

We are currently recruiting for a Senior Project Manager to join the Chemistry department to act as the innovation lead; representing both our CMC and Bioanalysis divisions globally.

Working as the Senior Project Manager for the Chemistry Innovation team you will be responsible for managing and maintaining a portfolio of Scientific Innovation projects. You will act as a central point of contact, working directly with the Chemistry Innovation team, Scientists and project stakeholders to define scope and gain approval for projects. You will be working remotely across the global Chemistry locations effectively engaging and leading the project teams to ensure that the projects are well defined and deliverables as agreed with the Project Sponsor are met.

As the PM you will be accountable for project budget development, monthly financial reporting of the projects and assessing the return on investment for each project within the portfolio. You will develop and publish the appropriate metrics, KPIs to track and calibrate the success of Innovation projects. You will also be responsible for liaising with the Commercial Organization to develop Innovation partnerships with clients.

The PM will be required to utilise excellent communication skills to liaise with internal project teams, departmental management and the Business partners to ensure effective progress throughout the life cycle of a project. Strong communication and interpersonal skills are required as is the ability to negotiate in a matrix environment. The ability to identify specific project requirements and engage the appropriate subject matter experts / resource in accordance with the project milestones is a key aspect of this role.

Education / Qualifications

* The post holder will have a relevant degree and/or relevant Project Management Office Experience .

*Be accredited to (and maintain) or be working towards a recognised Project Management qualification.

*An up to date knowledge of GxP regulatory guidelines is desirable.

*Knowledge of capabilities and expertise of the Covance organisation and companies that may provide support services.


*Must have prior Project Management or Scientific Experience within a Contract Research Organisation.

*General knowledge and understanding of CMC and Bioanalysis techniques.

*Proven ability to prioritize and manage time.

*Commercial awareness, with excellent interpersonal and negotiating skills.

*Excellent communicator with the ability to get things done by influencing internal and external stakeholders.

*Prior Experience with financial and budget planning is desired but not essential.

*Computing skills, including word processing and use of spreadsheets (e.g. Microsoft Office packages and Microsoft Project).
