Support Manager, Informatics

Job Overview

* Partner with internal and external clients to understand their challenges and pain-points and translate business needs into elegant and workable solutions that align with Covance Informatics' performance and compliance guidelines.
* Actively engage with business teams and manage their Incident tickets, Service requests and other adhoc requests pursuant to Covance guidelines to meet SLAs; generate periodic support metrics to measure improvement over time.
* Coordinate and manage development, validation, and deployment efforts for Informatics solutions including appropriate documentation.
* Provide estimates for development, validation, and support for Informatics projects and manage to those estimates to deliver within budget and time.
* Coordinate with other IT functions including external development partners.
* Coach, mentor and manage direct reports, if any, as well as project teams.

Education/Qualifications

* A Bachelor's degree in computer science, information systems, life sciences, or a related discipline.
* A Master's degree is preferred but not required.

Experience

* 5+ years of development and support Experience in enterprise-grade IT systems.
* Hands-on database (Oracle, MS SQL Server or PostgreSQL) Experience and SQL proficiency.
* Experience in the following:
* Java web based technologies, .Net, Node.js is a plus.
* Experience in big data technologies, with HBase and Spark preferable.
* Experience working with Windows/Unix/Linux administration.
* Experience with web server (IIS, Apache), reverse proxy and API gateway configuration and support
* Experience using RESTful web APIs and web-based application security
* Experience with DevOps automation using Bamboo or Jenkins and Docker containerization

* Excellent communication skills and ability to work with diverse user communities and software development teams.
* Understanding of clinical study execution and familiarity with electronic systems for clinical data collection.
* Expert trouble-shooting skills for data systems and complex software applications.
* General problem solving skills, versatility.
* Willingness to work on challenging but also practical problems.
* Obsessive attention to detail, passion for the end-user Experience .
* Ability to grow and develop a team and effectively manage team performance.
* Humility, team spirit, and a constructive, enabling and nurturing personality.
