Job Overview

We have a great opportunity for a STAFF SCIENTIST to join the Metabolism team at our Madison, WI site. Covance's work in developing new pharmaceutical solutions has an incredible impact on millions of lives worldwide. Be a part of this life-saving work.

Some of the duties include:

* Performs day-to-day technical management of studies with occasional mentorship and guidance management to develop general expertise in the field.
* Conduct laboratory studies to investigate the metabolism of drug candidates with the goal of profiling and identifying metabolites of drug candidates.
* Reviews technical validity of projects and results with occasional help from more Experience d scientists.
* Evaluates data for report preparation and experiment modification, as applicable and writes comprehensive reports.
* Project management responsibilities, including: client interaction.
* Co-authorship of scientific papers and posters.
* Adds basic understanding of scientific knowledge to assigned projects.
* Learns to manage client relationships for research projects.
* Maintains positive control over timing and scheduling issues related to the study process.

What we're looking for in you:

* Bachelors of Science (BS) degree in science required.
* PhD degree desired (additional Experience not required with a PhD).
* Experience may be substituted for education.
* Knowledge of GLP and regulatory guidelines concerning drug metabolism.
* Proficiency in project management skills.
* Ability to conduct literature review.
* Skilled in data interpretation and report writing for studies.
* Knowledge of and Experience in the use of LC/MS for structural elucidation of mixtures of unknown compounds is required.
* Skill in preparation of biological samples for LC/MS analysis is desired.
* Experience in the use of high resolution mass spectrometers is desired.
* Knowledge of drug metabolism and pharmacokinetic principles as well as biotransformation tools and techniques is desired.
* Knowledge and Experience in the use of radioisotopes in the investigation of xenobiotic metabolism is desired.
* Skilled in customer service communication.
* A minimum of 7 years related Experience in a laboratory environment, 3 years within the designated field of position.
