We have a great opportunity for an Experience d laboratory animal veterinarian to become Named Veterinary Surgeon and Associate Directorof Animal Welfare and Comparative Medicine (AWCM) in Harrogate, North Yorkshire. Harrogate is a pleasant spa town known for its Turkish baths and landscaped gardens with easy access to Leeds and York. Up and coming in terms of business, growth, and development, Harrogate will delight you with its restaurants, and for those who like countryside walks, the Yorkshire Dales and Lake District are within close proximity.

Key responsibilities in this highly responsible and visible leadership role:

* Serve as Site NVS and provide leadership and operational responsibility for AWCM at Site level
* Provide oversight of the animal care and use programme
* Deliver veterinary services
* Advise the Animal Welfare and Ethical Review Body
* Drive and contribute to high standards of animal care and welfare in support of Covance's global Culture of Care
* Drive compliance with regulatory groups and agencies, including AAALAC
* Promote innovations in the application of the 3Rs principles
* Influence local initiatives across Site
* Collaborate with veterinarians and other animal welfare experts locally and globally

Education / Qualifications

Graduate of an accredited veterinary school within relevant country and be licensed or eligible to be licensed by the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons



5-10 years of Experience in the laboratory animal medicine or science field

Knowledge of small and large animals used in research.

Must be able to work in a laboratory setting with laboratory animals.


Board certification or eligibility for board certification in the American College of Laboratory Animal Medicine or European College of Laboratory Animal Medicine

Experience in management and leading teams
