Job Overview

* Be fully conversant with the Husbandry Associate role across Animal House Operations.
* Perform regulated procedures under UK legislation.
* The post holder will be expected to run projects as assigned and put forward project ideas.
* To ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and in particular those relating to Animal Welfare, GLP and Health & Safety.
* It is expected that the post holder will have good communication skills with both internal and external clients and where required they will participate in client / study monitoring visits.
* Awareness of the SOP review process.
* Data, QC check and SEND awareness – attend training.
* Review animal bodyweights for allocated studies to ensure compliance with policies and procedures in line with current legislation.
* Awareness of the Quality Event and CAIR process.
* Awareness of the eQA system and complete training with regards to responding to audits.
* Awareness of the eNotes system and complete training with regards to producing eNotes.
* Complete welfare notification forms within the required timeframes.
* Be familiar with the Ethical Review Process.
* To maintain competence at all tasks in accordance with current SOPs and in line with competence check lists (CCLs).
* Adherence to Company Policies and Procedures (P&P's) and general Animal House processes – holiday booking, sickness reporting, code of conduct, security considerations/procedures.
* The role involves working in any of the relevant departments within the Animal House as required and it would be desirable for the post holder to be cross trained in multiple species.
* AAALAC awareness and regular class room refresher attended.
* Attend class room annual ASPA refresher training.
* Attend class room annual GLP refresher training.
* The post holder will be expected to work towards certificate level of the Institute of Animal Technology.
* To perform other tasks which may be reasonably requested/delegated by the supervisor.

Education / Qualifications

* Proficiency in both Maths and English; gained through either academic study or professional work Experience .
* Educational standard may include an Institute of Animal Technology qualification, a relevant BTEC National/Higher National Diploma or relevant degree.
* The post holder will have successfully gained a Home Office Personal License.
* It is required that the Post Holder will actively manage his or her own continued professional and career development.

The post holder is expected to be cross trained in the advanced non-licenced procedures

Experience

* Hold HO Licence
* Demonstrated excellent attitude towards work
* Excellent communication, teamwork and interpersonal skills.
* Excellent attention to detail.
* Ability to utilise word-processing software, databases, spreadsheet and specialised software.
* The post holder would be expected to have at least sixteen months Experience working as a non-licencee and hold relevant qualifications.
* The ability to work well within a team.
* The ability to meet deadlines
* Fully conversant with the Husbandry Associate role and trained in core husbandry procedures across AHO, successfully completed HO modules licence course, and associated handling assessments.
