Job Overview

We are seeking a Project Manager, Process Automation to support our Automation group within the Enterprise Project Management Office. The primary responsibility is to serve as the business Project Manager for Software Enabled Process Automation (SEPA) projects across Covance Central Laboratory Services (CLS). A secondary responsibility is to improve the process automation work flow to ensure this capability delivers sustainable value to Covance. Job responsibilities include but may not be limited to the following:

Project Management Responsibilities:

* Manage all aspects of process automation projects for CLS for which this role is responsible as determined with the Process Automation Team. This includes intake, decomposition, development, testing, deployment and support.
* Follow the process automation intake process to ensure selected processes are suitable for automation and have sufficient financial benefit to justify the investment to automate.
* Collaborate with counterparts in Business Solutions, IT, QA and other functions as needed to ensure appropriate up front planning to enable seamless integrated solutions.
* Engage development partners in process decomposition to document selected process ‘click by click' and ensure ‘automatability' and benefits still justify the investment.
* Create and maintain project plans and execute projects in a timely fashion to enable delivery to quality standards within agreed upon schedule and budget.
* Partner with subject matter experts and functional owners to identify all resources required to execute the project, negotiate and place resource requests and manage the resource plan for your projects.
* Manage changes to scope, schedule, and cost using integrated change control and appropriate verification techniques.
* Keep the project plan current and accurate for all team members to reference regularly
Set and manage expectations of stakeholders and team members in accordance with your project plan, aligning to a common understanding by all.
* Identify, document and update project risks, assumptions, and constraints. Implement approved actions and workarounds required to mitigate project risk in order to reduce or negate the probability of impact to your projects.
* Monitor, control and report on project performance metrics; measuring progress of the project, identifying, and quantifying any variances to plan, and communicate any corrective actions to appropriate stakeholders.
* Ensure automations are delivering the expected operational impact so that benefits can be realized. Take appropriate actions to address any issues that prevent automation impact from being realized.
* Develop and implement customized communications to keep ALL stakeholders apprised of progress and issues and where their support is needed. Provide project status updates in appropriate forums.

Process Improvement Responsibilities:

* Own the implementation and improvement of the automation opportunity identification process. This includes but is not limited to: 1) leading SEPA sessions with employees and all follow up sessions requested to ID processes ‘bottom up'; 2) working with automation team and process excellence team to identify the most effective ‘top down' ID process; 3) track ALL processes identified; define, track and report metrics to demonstrate effectiveness of intake process to stakeholders.
* Work with Process Automation Team to identify and implement other opportunities for process improvement.

Education/Qualifications

* STEM Bachelor's degree or equivalent work Experience preferred
* PMP or equivalent certification a plus
* IT Project Management and/or Experience deploying technology-based solutions a plus
* Central Laboratory and/or Clinical Trial industry Experience highly preferred

Experience

5-10 Years of full-time business project management, or equivalent professional Experience preferred

Software development or Process automation appreciated
