Job Overview

Interested in Science, Animal Care & Observation,Preclinical Research, or Drug Development? As a Research Assistant (Study Technician) in our Greenfield, Indiana in-Life department, you will monitor the research animals' health and welfare using your Experience in animal observation and your Experience working with sample collections.

Study Technician positions in our In-Life department focuses on animal's health and welfare, performing animal husbandry and task associated with research studies.

Duties include but not limited to;

* Perform daily care of small and large animals including watching for signs of stress or illness, assist with administration of medications, blood collections and care of animals
* Collection, documentation, and management of pertinent data from animal observations.
* Performs a data review of study materials with minimal quality control (QC) findings and understands the level of a quality assurance (QA) audit
* Performs basic measurements e.g., body weight, food consumption, tumor size, body temp, behavioral, blood pressure, glucometer, urine, feces
* Extensive training is provided; candidates need to be comfortable working with both small and large animals in a laboratory setting.
* Pay rate for associates without Experience in this area $15.00 per hour, pay rate increases at 6 months and can grow with obtaining AALAS certifications.
* Day shift hours, ability to work weekends as needed, typically every 3rd weekend

Education/Qualifications

Recommended:

Bachelor degree in Life Sciences, Associate degree in Laboratory Animal Technology or Associate degree in Veterinary Technology.

An equivalent combination of education and Experience may be accepted as a satisfactory substitute for the specific education.

Must be able to work in a laboratory setting with laboratory animals

AALAS certification at the Assistant Laboratory Animal Technician level is preferred, but not required.

Experience

Minimum Required:

Basic computer knowledge.

Basic math skills.

Ability to accurately read and record information.
