This is a permanent, full time position, based in our Indianapolis facility.

As a Manager of Clinical Microbiology, you will lead a team of 3 supervisors and a total of 36 staff members. You will handle the day-to-day operations and on-time delivery of testing services of the Microbiology Department. You will:

* Provide managerial leadership to the local department staff
* Provide managerial leadership to the local Microbiology staff for validations and transition to production
* Communicate the goals and strategy of Covance Central Laboratory Services (CCLS), the lab and the department
* Manage all day-to-day delivery of testing services of the local department
* Ensure testing quality and on-time delivery of testing services
* Manage all non-production activities and obligations of the local department;
* Provide support, as required, to the Global Director and assists in the fulfillment of his/her responsibilities
* Ensure that an adequate number of trained and competent staff is available to match the workload requirements of the department
* Be responsible for ensuring client satisfaction
* Participate in and supports client visits, audits and inquiries to ensure complete fulfillment of requests and interests
* Be responsible for the departmental Quality Management Program and for on-time responses to quality issues (clients and internal audits, internal and external quality controls…) as required
* Recruit, train, develop and retain sufficient supervisory resources for the effective oversight of the local department operations

What we're looking for in you:

Do you have the following education and Experience ?

* BS degree in Biology, Chemistry or other Life Science; or Medical Technology degree is required
* Professional certification (ASCP) in area(s) of expertise is preferred
* 6 years of Experience in a Clinical Microbiology laboratory following clinical training is required
* 2 years supervisory or management Experience in a clinical laboratory environment is required
* Fluent in English; Command of French is a plus
