Job Overview

Covance is hiring Histotechnologists to join our team in Indianapolis, IN at our Central Laboratories. If you join the Covance team, there is a $5,000.00 sign-on bonus.

In addition, there is relocation assistance when you move to Indianapolis, IN. This is a 1st shift opportunity. (We ask that you do work a Saturday rotation.)

The Histotechnologist will receive, inspect and validated incoming samples.

Additional Responsibilities Include:

* Scan samples into databases
* Label and route specimens to the correct department or second laboratory
* Sample pre-analytic, analytic and post-analytic processing
* Tissue slide staining both automated platforms and manual for routine and special stains, and bone decalcification
* Maintain accurate paper work and audit trail for samples
* Flexibility on duties and hours. Saturday rotation required

*ASCP HT certification preferred

* Bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited college/university with a combination of 30 semester hours (45 quarter hours) of biology and chemistry AND successful completion of an accredited Histotechnician or Histotechnology program within the last 5 years


* Bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited college/university with a combination of 30 semester hours(45 quarter hours) of biology and chemistry AND one year full time acceptable Experience in histopathology laboratory within the last ten years, under the supervision of a pathologist or an appropriately board certified medical scientist.


* The ideal candidate should have at least 8 months Experience in FFPE and tissue block sectioning, wet tissue processing, minor tissue grossing, good working knowledge of tissue orientation for embedding of a variety of tissue types.
