European Sourcing Category Specialist (Telecoms and Professional Services)

We are recruiting for our Sourcing & Procurement team in Harrogate and are currently seeking to hire a European Sourcing Category Specialist to help support the team implement global and regional sourcing strategies within the Telecoms and Professional Services category, including spend & market analysis, contribute to strategic development projects, facilitate sourcing councils and manage spend categories/programs on smaller projects

This is a full time position, based in our Harrogate site.

About the Job

Within this position, your duties will include:

* Perform European market research, data and spend analysis on specific categories. Interpret analysis and evaluate spend categories of goods and services to determine where opportunities lie for pricing and contract renegotiations, contract/vendor consolidations, or alternative goods or services evaluations.
* Under direction from Global Category Managers, Category/Associate Director of Global Sourcing, develop and implement or lead projects that benefit Covance through reduced pricing, increased efficiencies, ease of management, or reduced risk.
* Assist in the management of vendor relationships, contracts and sourcing of top-spend categories where the products, services or vendors are used across multiple sites or business units.
* Assist the Sourcing Category Managers in developing RFP's and informal bids. Manage process through bid to contract award.
* Under the guidance of the Sourcing Category Managers, provide negotiations on new contracts, contract renewals, and pricing.
* Take part in sourcing councils consisting of representatives from user groups, finance, and sourcing in order to understand the needs of the end users. Evaluate and negotiate the best goods and services contract and pricing to meet the needs of the end users.
* Consistently monitor marketplace conditions of assigned categories and complete formal market analysis at a minimum annually.
* Prepare and occasionally provide presentations on completed project/category savings and category spend analysis to Leadership and user groups.
* Provide strategic sourcing support and customer satisfaction while delivering improvements to the business in cost reductions, enhanced revenue opportunities and risk mitigation.
* Be process driven and project focused with ability to prioritize and get projects completed in set timeframe.
* Prioritize workload under direction of the Category Managers to meet the changing demands of the business and the market.
* Apply best practice for data collection and analysis, risk assessment, stakeholder identification and involvement, total cost of supply, standardization of products and services, building demand plans, contract negotiations, implementation of contracts and change management.
* Spends more than 50% of time engaged in strategic and proactive projects involving top-priority business initiatives.


* Work with the Procurement Generalists and other procurement team members as required and coach & mentor them in support of this role.
* Understand the data requirements for FSA in terms of Item and Vendor Master and Covance P2P process requirements, ensuring any contracts can be implemented through this process.
* Specific tasks and is responsible for tactical ordering, inventory replenishment (such as ControlPoint or stores operations), and meeting the day to day needs of appropriate Business Units.
* Sourcing and Purchasing Leadership will determine time allocations between the two areas of responsibilities as required.
* Duties, project, and programs as otherwise assigned.

What we're looking for

To be successful in this position, you will need to hold a Bachelor's Degree with 2-5 years of Experience in purchasing, supply chain and/or sourcing in Telecoms and/or Professional/General Services

Professional designations/certifications/licenses: CIPS or equivalent work Experience s preferred

Additionally, you will need to demonstrate:

Specific European Sourcing Category Experience and knowledge of Telecoms and/or Professional Services

Excellent oral, written and data analysis skills

Computer skills: strong command of Word, Excel and PowerPoint. Preference for working knowledge of data management and statistical tools and techniques.
