Job Overview

Laboratory Pre-Analytical Services

1. Ensure proper temperature of specimens are maintained

2. Ensure timely processing of kits and requisitions

3. Ensure all testing requested is ordered

4. Ensure timely delivery of specimens to the Laboratory

5. Ensure timely communication with departments/clients concerning processing problems

6. Ensure sufficient documentation of all processes

Specimen Management

1. Ensure that specimens are picked up from Laboratory Pre-Analytical Services, sorted and pre-scanned into the appropriate temperature bins in a timely fashion.

2. Responsible for registration and processing of specimens into correct storage temperature

3. Generation and application of specialized labels to include mini labels and computer generated bar codes.

4. Process, register, package and ship samples requiring special handling

5. Research and resolution of problem samples and correct routing of these specimens maintaining documentation during the process.

6. Accountable for accurately identifying specimens that need to be discarded and completing the discard process

7. Perform domestic and/or in-house shipping procedures.

8. Maintain inventory records for items used in daily workflow.

9. Consolidate and move drawers as specified to effectively utilize freezer space.

10. Freezer maintenanceGeneral responsibilities

General responsibilities

Follow SOPs to guarantee compliance, uniformity, and standardization of methods

Incumbent is responsible for maintaining their complete up-to-date training file.

Minimum Required:

* Good level of general education (e.g. Diploma or Bachelor of Science degree) in Life science or related studies is preferred but not essential


Minimum Required:

* Previous healthcare, medical or laboratory Experience is preferred but not essential
