Together with our Sales Leadership, we are looking to hire a talented Business Development Director for our global leading pre-clinical/early development business in Shanghai.

The Business Development Director will sell Early Development/Pre-Clinical (ED) to the China pharmaceutical and biotechnology industry. The incumbent will maintain customer relationships and target and close additional business for Covance in China.

About the Job
- Marketing of the company services and capabilities to local and regional clients
- Interface between the company and the industry
- Responsible for selling clinical services for our Early Development division
- Responsible for setting and managing customer accounts
- Responsible for achieving sales targets for assigned customer accounts
- Responsible for maintaining frequent personal contact with clients (≥50% field time)

Sells services, manages customer expectations, establishes and nurtures client relationships for the sales group to achieve overall sales targets.

Essential Functions
1. Sells multiple services
a. Recognizes and communicates opportunities for other business units
2. Sets and manages customer expectations
a. Collaborates with company wide resources to achieve superior customer satisfaction
b. Participates in sales and marketing related audits and focus groups
3. Achieves sales targets for assigned accounts
a. Designs and executes customer account plans
4. Establishes and nurtures client relationships
a. Meets face-to-face with clients
5. Acts as a coach and mentor within sphere of influence

Nonessential Functions
6. Other duties and responsibilities as assigned
Education/Qualifications - BS degree in chemical/biological science plus 5+ years Experience in life science, contract research, or pharmaceutical sales.
- Skilled in negotiating sales contracts.
- Knowledge of domestic and international registration data requirements desired.
- Knowledge of computers (Word, Excel , Outlook).
- Knowledge of Key Accounts (or ability to gain familiarity quickly based upon previous Experience ).
Experience Minimum of 2 years proven successful record in life sciences, contract research, or pharmaceutical sales.
Experience selling Bioanalytical Services is preferred, but not required
