Contracts Associate - Food Solutions in Madison, WI.

The Contracts Associate will perform contract management tasks of various complexities in support of the global Food Solutions business. The primary responsibility is to develop, review and negotiate Confidentiality Agreements, Letter of Intent, Services/Consulting Agreements, Master Services Agreements, Individual Project Agreements and other agreements as required by the Food Solutions business.

- Lead negotiations for all assigned agreements with limited management support.
- Manage and improve current contracting processes and procedures in a suitable manner for the Food Solutions business within the parameters of the broader Covance legal and contracting framework.
- Leads the review, negotiation, preparation, execution and delivery of any Food Solutions related intercompany contractual documents within required timelines, coordinating with the Revenue and Billings teams as necessary.
- Sets up and maintains study files, updating data base information as it becomes available.
- Provides accurate updates on outstanding contractual documents and contracts related issues on a regular basis or as otherwise required.
- Ensures Sarbanes Oxley compliance from a contracting perspective.
- Serves as the key liaison between Legal, Finance and Client Services for thorough vetting of contracting opportunities.
- Adept at using contract data tracking tools including CMS, SharePoint, and others as required.
Education/Qualifications - BA or BS degree in business, law, food or life science (or equivalent Experience ).
Experience - Minimum of 2 years in the nutritional or food chemistry industry is preferred.
- 1 year of contract management related Experience is required.
- Experience in the pharmaceutical or CRO industry may be substituted for food-related Experience .
- Demonstrated ability to plan, multi-task, and prioritize
- Experience and comfort in a high volume, fast paced environment is essential.
- Knowledge of reports, contracts and billing procedures
- Requires unquestionable customer service skills, meticulousness, and ability to be persistent while maintaining tact.
- Must be a pro-active problem solver, interacting with internal customers, to meet their needs in an efficient and timely manner.
- Proficient knowledge of computer programs including Word and Excel.
- Ability to review and analyze data and present it to small groups.
- Skilled in computer operations including CMS.
- Basic negotiating skills
- Proven ability to work independently
